Dean Flat Leather Messenger Bag

This bag belongs to the guy that first introduced me to Dean. It's a fairly large bag and can easily be converted from a messenger bag to a tote bag. (It is leather, he assures me, despite the grainy picture.)

If you've been reading this blog, even just intermittently, you'd know that I generally don't like metal studs. However, that's only the case when the studs don't have to be there for functionality or can be covered up; in a purely "decorative" term, I think studs can add aesthetic value, as is the case here.

It takes wily skills to make me like something I normally detest. This one guy had a foot fetish, and he wanted me to massage...never mind.

In like manner, I loathe curves and round edges on bags -- there's something fat about them. But leave it to Marni to make it work somehow. I'm even inclined to look favorably upon the zipper pull, even though it's so bulbous. Moreover, the detachable shoulder strap makes this curious-looking bag functional.
