Flavored with a vintage touch but not so much that it looks like a $3 Goodwill find, Dior Homme gives us a little gem of a messenger bag that's not covered in logo (or made of metallic leather). The red/blue leather tab, though having no function on its own, wears like a decorative ribbon, and the canvas gives it a lightweight feel appropriate for an everyday casual bag.

Dior Homme Multicolor Wallet.

Source: Eluxury
The red patent leather wallet will always have a special place in my heart like the Indian child I used to sponsor in India but later forgot about, but if you're looking for a more casual, fun wallet, here it is.

Dior Homme Metallic Stripe Messenger Bag.

Source: Eluxury
Unless you intend on biking at night (which I advise you not do because there are drivers like me out there), the metallic stripe serves no purpose. In fact, one may even call it an eyesore. I expect something like this from Dsquared to make a $1500 jacket look pseudo-athletic, but not from Dior.
My friend told me he bought the tote bag with the same stripe -- it was hard, but I kept my opinion to myself.

Dior Double Wrap Belt.

It's long enough to wrap around your waist twice...unless you've been on that episode of Maury where industrial machinery was required to extract you from your house.

Dior Homme Patent Stripe Wallet.

Source: Eluxury
This cherryburgundy wallet would give a nice pop to a drab winter outfit. If small dings and scratches on the exterior are unsightly to you, the coated canvas will offer some protection from normal wear. However, the interior is all leather - nothing less for your Platinum AMEX and Ralphs/Wegmans discount club cards.

Dior Homme Perforated Gold Messenger Bag.

Source: Eluxury
For $1700 you'd think this would be the size of a duffle bag, but it's Dior Homme and they charge whatever they want for baubles.
I'm starting to get sick of the whole metallic leather trend.

Can I have this now?! Simple, functional, and chic. And I don't use the word "chic" often.

Dior Homme Silver Messenger Bag.

Source: Eluxury
It's been marked down from $645 to $499. If you like metallic leather but don't want to resemble a walking mirror, this Dior Homme messenger bag is a sweet compromise. The leather will oxidize and turn into a golden shade of brown like the crust of a delicious chicken pot pie. Mmmm... A top handle and a removable shoulder strap would have made this bag perfect - you'd be able to switch from briefcase to messenger bag.

Dior Homme Flat Messenger.

Source: Rakuten
If you notice, the shoulder strap is actually quite thin. I also have a general distaste for perforated leather. I say if you're looking for a functional flat messenger bag, go with a nylon Prada.

Ugly Pockets Cont'd: Dior Homme 30 Montaigne Paris Messenger Bag.

Source: Eluxury
Yesterday, I found this gross Bottega Veneta duffle bag with enlarged, flappy pockets that could've been made from the ears of Dumbo. (I need to watch that movie again because I think I remember an elephant flying around, but that's just ridiculous even for a Disney cartooon...not that the magic carpet in Aladdin was any more realistic.)
The pockets on this Dior Homme messenger bag aren't any better. They're more structured and distinct, but they look like they hide bricks. It's Carrying Contraption's philosophy that outer pockets should not extend out too much, lest the bag looks like it has unchecked cancer growth. (Has anyone seen those documentaries about people who have coconut-sized tumors that cannot be removed because of the lack of medical facilities and/or money?*)

* I have so much respect for doctors involved with Doctors Without Borders. They can make tons of money with private practice, but instead, they give up the comforts of modern life to help those in dire need.
** I'm sitting in a computer lab typing this, and a lady comes in to collect some used laptops to send to her son in Azerbaijan. He's in the Peace Corps.
I officially feel guilty.

Dior Homme Loves Me, Loves Me Not Necklace.

Source: Eluxury
You might be wondering why this necklace costs $480. True, it's made of brass, but it's also finished with rhodium. At around $6000 per troy ounce, rhodium is much more expensive than even platinum. (In fact, rhodium is electroplated sometimes on top of platinum jewelry.) The necklace is only finished with rhodium, so obviously you're getting no where near one troy ounce of the precious metal, but it's enough to prevent tarnishing and create a lasting shine. It can even withstand nitric acid!

Remember?

Can you believe this is what Marc Jacobs used to look like? He lost the mop-top, got contacts, hit the gym, and came out looking twenty times better.
A whole new meaning to the word "carpetbagger". Limited edition or not, that bag was just foul.

Dior Homme Briefcase.

Source: Eluxury
Maybe the news that Hedi Slimane is leaving Dior Homme gives me a heightened sense of joy...because this otherwise plain black Dior Homme briefcase looks very clean and sophisticated. It's just an ordinary leather bag, but it's more appealing than it should be.
It's like a nefarious force that's been striking young men everywhere with anorexia and angst-filled tears has been vanquished forever, and the world is a safer place to live...aside from the war, disease, poverty, violence, hunger, and hate.
Available at Eluxury for $1280.

Dior Homme - Another Purse - Who's Shocked?

Source: Eluxury
Here is another purse ("messenger bag") from Dior Homme. I'm not surprised. It's like when a snotty brat craves attention and does something stupid...like set a stuffed animal ablaze. Sure, first time it's scary and disconcerting, but after regularly scheduled fiery mishaps, no one gives a second thought. Likewise, after seeing the gender-bending atrocities put forth as avant-garde fashion, Dior Homme can collaborate with Hello Kitty to come out with the Dior Kitty line. And life would still be A-OK.
Available at Eluxury for $660.

Fibrous.

Source: Browns Fashion
If you're willing to pay a premium price for designer t-shirts, do not invest in Dior Homme. The quality of t-shirts (and t-shirts only) is sub-par compared to Prada, Jil Sander, and yes, even D&G and Dsquared2. The fabric feels cheap, and the print feels like it's going to come off with the first wash. Don't get me started on the Pete Doherty thing. Give me some airbrush, $5, lithium, and a grey American Apparel heather grey t-shirt, and I can give you the same thing. I'll even throw in some paper-punch waste confetti from Kinko's and Hershey's Kisses for good measure.
Below is the eyeroll-inducing description for the above t-shirt from Browns Fashion:
Simple but always cool. Grey is the colour of the season so wear this t-shirt at every opportunity. No one will believe you need any help with your style.
The only way I'd buy this is if it were an adventitious find at a West Hollywood thrift store for $3.99.

Martinique.

Source: Bluefly
This coated canvas Dior Homme messenger is 20% off on Bluefly. Snatch it up quickly because it sells out relatively fast, and then you'd have to pay retail at Eluxury. It's a good everyday, simple messenger bag that you can plop down on the floor and throw across the room. The one good thing about coated canvas is that it's easy to clean with a damp cloth - no leather conditioners and buffers necessary. It's a bit on the small side (12" wide), but most books and documents will fit comfortably.
Available for $476 at Bluefly.
